A new generation of red light therapy - LumaRed Glow Therapy Mask

En ny generasjon rødlysterapi -
LumaRed Glow Therapy Mask

By Siw Hansson Kaulbach, founder, owner and CEO of Radiant Health

The market for LED masks has grown rapidly in recent years. Products may look similar at first glance, but the differences in technology, quality, and actual effect are often significant.

Having worked in this market since 2012, and having developed a wide range of red light and infrared products for thousands of customers, we know one thing for sure: It's not enough for something to look right – it also has to work at a cellular level.

That's why we asked ourselves a crucial question:
What if we developed a red light mask based on how the skin actually works – not just what's easy to produce?

For us, creating “just another LED mask” was never an option. We wanted to combine documented research, precise technology, and an understanding of skin biology – and get it right from the start.

The result is the «LumaRed Glow Therapy Mask».

Not all light is equal – precision is what creates an effect

The most important thing to understand about light therapy is that it's not about just any light, but about very specific wavelengths with concrete biological functions. Red and near-infrared light, in particular, are well-documented in research. Several clinical studies – including randomized, placebo-controlled, and double-blind studies – have shown significant improvements in skin rejuvenation, with findings such as reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, improved skin elasticity, increased collagen density, and clear increases in both collagen and elastic fibers in the skin.

This is why the LumaRed mask is designed with multiple red wavelengths.

It's also important to emphasize that more is not necessarily better. In a market where some products highlight “all the colors of the rainbow,” there may be reason to question the quality. Each wavelength must have a documented biological function – otherwise, it becomes more marketing than effect. LumaRed is therefore developed with a conscious selection of wavelengths that have actually been studied and used in a clinical context.

Red light at 630 nm works in the epidermis and upper parts of the dermis, stimulating fibroblasts – the cells that produce collagen and elastin. This contributes to improved skin structure, increased elasticity, and more even skin tone. Red light at 660 nm penetrates deeper into the dermis, providing a more powerful stimulation of collagen production and the skin's repair processes. Together, these wavelengths provide a more holistic and effective activation of skin renewal.

Near-infrared light at 850 nm penetrates even deeper into the tissue, working at a cellular level with circulation, repair, inflammation, and cellular energy.

Documented technology that activates the skin's own renewal processes

What happens inside the cells is crucial. Red and near-infrared light are absorbed in the mitochondria – the cells' “powerhouses” – where they increase the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is the energy cells use to function optimally. This leads to better cellular respiration, increased oxygen utilization, and more efficient regeneration.

When cells get more energy, something fundamental happens: they function better. This means that the skin doesn't just look better temporarily – it improves over time through strengthened self-function.

We don't add anything artificial. We give the cells energy to do what they are designed for: produce collagen, repair, and renew themselves.

Blue light at 460 nm is included as a targeted supplement. It has antibacterial properties and is known to kill the acne bacterium (Cutibacterium acnes), making it effective against impure skin. At the same time, we know that blue light used alone can affect the skin's natural bacterial flora. Therefore, we have deliberately chosen to combine blue and red light in a separate program – so that we both reduce unwanted bacteria and simultaneously support the skin's balance and microbiome.

The right dose of energy is crucial for visible results

A crucial factor for effectiveness is not only which wavelengths are used, but how much energy the skin actually receives – measured in joules per square centimeter (J/cm²). Many products on the market deliver too low energy levels to create a real biological response in the cells.

LumaRed is developed with an irradiance of up to 46 mW/cm², with adjustable levels of 30, 36, and 46 mW/cm². This provides an energy density of approximately 25–40 J/cm² per treatment, depending on duration. This range corresponds to what research has shown to be necessary to stimulate collagen production, cell activity, and skin rejuvenation.

Without sufficient energy – no effect.

Developed for the entire skin – not just the face

The mask is designed as a two-part system – one part for the face and one for the neck and décolletage. They can be used separately but are designed to be used together to provide a more holistic and balanced treatment.

This is a conscious choice. Skin does not stop at the jawline, and both the neck and chest often have thinner skin, lower sebum production, and more accumulated sun damage. By including these areas, a more natural and harmonious result is achieved.

To ensure optimal effect, the mask contains a total of 480 LED diodes – 240 in the face part and 240 in the neck and chest part. This provides an even distribution of light and a more consistent stimulation of the tissue, without areas falling outside the treatment.

The mask is made of medical-grade silicone that molds tightly to the skin. The good fit increases light absorption and makes it comfortable enough for regular use – which is crucial for achieving visible results.

Good contact yields better results.

LumaRed Glow Therapy Mask

The LumaRed Glow Therapy Mask represents a new standard because it is developed with respect for the skin's biology. It combines clinically studied wavelengths, documented effects on collagen, elastin, and cellular energy, high and adjustable irradiance, 480 LED diodes, and a holistic treatment of the face, neck, and décolletage.

This is not just an LED mask. It is a tool to activate the skin at a cellular level.

For me, beauty is less about correcting and more about activating. When we use the right wavelengths, we increase the energy in the cells, support the skin's own processes, and work with the body – not against it.

This is not just light.
It is precise, biological energy – delivered where the skin actually renews itself.
